The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has conducted raids on Manish Sisodia, Deputy Chief Minister of Government of Delhi today. According to sources, CBI went to 21 locations including the residence of Manish Sisodia. This raid has a connection with its investigation into alleged irregularities in the Delhi Excise Policy 2021-22. Responding to the incident, Sisodia welcomed CBI for this action and affirmed that nothing come this time also.

Further, Sisodia said “We welcome CBI. Will give full cooperation in the investigation so that the truth can come out soon. Till now, many cases have been filed against me, but nothing has come out. Nothing will come out of it either. My work for a good education in the country cannot be stopped. It is very unfortunate that those who do good work in our country are harassed like this. That is why our country has not yet become No 1.”

Coincidentally, these CBI raids were done on the same day when The New York Times published a report in its international edition on the AAP government’s “overhaul of public schools in the capital of India” on the main page.

Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal also responded to CBI searches, saying that “On a day when the Delhi education model is praised and Manish Sisodia’s picture is printed on the front page of America’s largest newspaper, NYT, the Centre sends CBI to his house,”.

BJP Stand

On the other hand, North East Delhi BJP MP Manoj Tiwari alleged the Delhi government for big corruption in the new liquor policy and that this CBI raid should have been conducted earlier. Tiwari said, “I think CBI has delayed a bit, this action should have been bit earlier because anyone should not be allowed to sit on a constitutional post and loot Delhi”.
