Massive protests erupted hours after a student died by suicide at a Punjab university, lasting until late Tuesday, as students demanded an investigation. According to the demonstrators, this is the second suicide death at the Lovely Professional University (LPU) in Phagwara in 10 days.

Agni S. Dilip, 21, of Kerala, was studying design at the university and was dealing with “personal troubles,” according to the police, who referred to a suicide note. “On Tuesday afternoon, a first-year B. The initial police inquiry and the contents of the suicide note hint at the personal concerns of the deceased. Protesting students, who claim that the earlier suicide was hushed up by the authorities, want to know what caused both deaths. According to them, the earlier incident was “settled behind closed doors.”

Chandigarh University leaked films

According to authorities, the two males implicated in the Chandigarh University leaked films case were allegedly blackmailing the apprehended lady student into sharing recordings of other hostellers. Sunny Mehta and his friend Pankaj Verma allegedly blackmailed the woman student by making her private films public unless she filmed and uploaded videos of hostel inmates in the common washroom.

The female student accused of creating the recordings was arrested first, followed by a 23-year-old male from Himachal Pradesh who was rumored to be her lover. His 31-year-old companion was also detained. The phones of the three accused were also seized by police. According to a police spokesman, all three accused devices will be sent for forensic analysis.
