Actress Priyanka Chopra Jonas says she discussed women’s rights, especially the right to vote, with US Vice President Kamala Harris recently. The actor met Harris on Friday during the Democratic National Committee’s Women’s Leadership Forum meeting. Chopra Jonas shared many photographs and videos from the conference on Instagram, as well as a lengthy comment about her conversations with Harris.

“The world has been undermining the women’s power since the beginning. We’ve been shunned and silenced, but owing to the selfless sacrifices and perseverance of so many selfless women, we are now in a position to come together and fight together to right the wrongs. This was a crucial takeaway from the discussion I had the honor of moderating with Kamala Harris last night at the Women’s Leadership Forum conference in Washington, DC ” The 40-year-old actor penned a letter.

Chopra Jonas said that in the last two years, people have had to deal with some of the most difficult problems. “We face an urgent need for the stability and progress, and for America, that begins on November 8th. Everyone has a role to play in this… being a part of the civic process and exercising the right to vote, especially women because we must be actively involved in ensuring our rights are protected, “she said.

The star stated that she is ineligible to vote in the United States, but her husband Nick Jonas, and daughter Malti Marie Jonas will.  “While I do not have the right to vote in this nation, my husband does, and my daughter will one day. My talk with VP Harris focused on the most critical concerns, which must be handled with a clear vision and plan. “, Chopra-Jonas stated.

Earlier in her speech, she said that women in India have been able to hold the highest elected positions, but that this is not the case in the United States. “It is really perplexing to me that in this country [the US], magnificent land of so much opportunity and so much transformation, we have not seen that final glass ceiling cracked,” Chopra Jonas added.

Harris is the first female Vice President of the United States, the first black American, and the first South Asian American. Chopra Jonas was most recently seen in the Keanu Reeves-led “The Matrix Resurrections.” She will next be seen in The Russo Brothers’ “Citadel” and “It’s All Coming Back To Me,” both starring alongside Sam Heughan.
