Actors Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt encountered protesters at a temple during their Tuesday visit to Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, to promote their blockbuster movie “Brahmastra Part-1: Shiva.” Amid uproar over Ranbir Kapoor’s remarks made when he was 11 years old, the expectant couple decided not to visit the historic Mahakaleshwar Temple due to security concerns. Ayan Mukherji, the director of the movie, later went to the temple with the Brahmastra cast to “take Lord Shiva’s blessings.”

The star couple was not prevented from visiting the temple, according to Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Narottam Mishra, who also claimed that officials had instead asked them to do so. No one prevented them from praying, they made the decision to stay away on their own.

I received a briefing from the Ujjain administration on the entire incident. The administration asked the pair to go ahead and make their prayers. Although there was sufficient security, they chose not to go there. They were not stopped, he claimed.

Members of the Bajrang Dal, a group affiliated with the Sangh Parivar and the state’s ruling BJP, gathered at the temple to condemn the comment that has been going around on social media. They screamed anti-star chants while holding black flags and placards. Some of the demonstrators were even physically assaulted when the police moved in to scatter them.

Incident Explained

OP Mishra, a police officer, explained that while we were taking security calls due to VIP movement in the temple and asking the protesters to remain behind the barricade, a member of the Bajrang Dal came and started breaching the security, which required us to take the following security calls. Ranbir Kapoor’s earlier interviews have been dug out by some social media users, and this remark has caused a significant response. Posts with the hashtag #BoycottBrahmastra have surfaced on Twitter.

In her article, Shiv Sena leader Priyanka Chaturvedi criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi and denounced the demonstrations. Ms. Chaturvedi commented in a post about a popular photo of Bollywood celebrities with PM Mod; none of this photo op will help if you’ll continue to be mute witnesses to hate and believe it’s not your business to debate politics. They will still pursue you.

One example is the unrest surrounding the Mahakaleshwar temple in Ujjain. It’s unfortunate that political bias is causing such ugly behavior. On Friday, the highly anticipated Brahmastra trilogy will make its cinematic debut.
