While many Android smartphone users have been given new WhatsApp features, iOS users will soon be able to modify outgoing messages. Source has highlighted a slew of new features designed to boost productivity for WhatsApp users performing business or doing routine tasks.

The ability to edit text messages, which was previously revealed for Android users, is expected to be one of the new features. However, iPhone and iOS users should not be concerned because the editing functionality is scheduled to arrive on Apple’s operating system.

According to WABetaInfo, an independent WhatsApp watcher, iOS users will soon be able to amend a message that has already been delivered within 15 minutes. The changed message is supposed to be labeled “Edited”. “We learned that WhatsApp is working on adding the same feature for a future release of the iOS beta app”,  WABetaInfo stated.

The edit option may still need to appear on the instant messenger for both Android and iOS users, but it is scheduled to roll out to beta testers of the app in the coming weeks.

“WhatsApp will allow users up to 15 minutes after sending text messages to amend them. Because this is the first version of the message editing feature, it will only be possible to edit text messages because editing the caption for images, videos, and documents is not currently supported; however, we can expect an improved version of the feature before the release “, the blog post went on to state more.

The claims of modified messages arriving on iOS come on the heels of WABetaInfo’s recent assumption that the Meta-owned instant messaging program will formalize its self-chat capabilities by allowing users to send messages to themselves when they add themselves as a contact.

While sending messages to your phone number has always been allowed, it was previously only possible by clicking on WhatsApp to open it on WhatsApp for Android. Some beta testers will now see a different caption highlighting the chat-with-yourself functionality. It will be available to more customers in the following weeks.

Other projected platform capabilities include the ability to forward media and, in particular, links with fresh captions, as well as the ability to generate shareable links for video or voice calling that anyone on the platform can utilize.

Zuckerberg on Communities

Meanwhile, Meta Platforms CEO Mark Zuckerberg stated earlier today that the Communities feature will now be available to all WhatsApp users worldwide.

“Admins will now have the tools to organize conversations under one umbrella thanks to Communities.” “We’ve created a slew of new features, including reactions and larger file sharing, and we’re now rolling out polls, 32-person calls, shareable call links to set up a group call later, and more,” Zuckerberg said.

He also disclosed that, instead of the current 512 restrictions, groups can now have up to 1,024 members. The ability to read a WhatsApp status right from the user’s profile is the second feature that has been secretly deployed for all users on the iOS app. The functionality essentially eliminates the additional step of visiting the “Status” page to check the statuses posted by various contacts kept on the user’s phone.

Users must update to version 22.21.77 of the iOS app. They can then go to any of their contacts’ profiles and tap on the profile image once it has been modified. You will then be asked whether you want to see the status of the profile picture. When a new status is added that the user has not yet seen, a blue circle will appear around their profile image.

All iOS users are receiving the update. If you haven’t yet received the update from the Apple App Store, we recommend waiting a few days. The modest, but the fresh update is likely to appear once the program is upgraded to version 22.21.77 on your iPhone.
