WhatsApp is one of the most popular social media programs in the world. To improve user experience, the Meta-owned instant messaging program is constantly updated with new features and upgrades. WhatsApp is currently working on a slew of new features, according to WaBetaInfo. We’ve compiled a list of features that will be added to the WhatsApp web and mobile apps in the near future.
Users of WhatsApp can currently send messages to themselves. The platform will highlight that chat by adding “message yourself” as the chat caption with the new feature. According to WaBetaInfo, the chat with your phone number option will also be available within your contacts list, making it easier for users to find their own chat.
Another feature being worked on by WhatsApp is the option to create profile photographs for individual contacts in Group chats. When a group member receives a message, their profile photo will appear. If a group member does not have a profile image or if it is not available due to privacy settings, the default profile symbol will be displayed in the chat.
WhatsApp will soon allow users to send captioned pictures, videos, GIFs, and documents. The feature is presently available on the Google Play Store’s latest beta for the Android 2.22.23.15 upgrade. It is possible that it will be extended to other devices as well.
Some desktop beta testers can currently blur visuals. The function enables WhatsApp users to neatly remove critical information from their photographs. According to the article, it has developed two blur tools that allow users to tweak their photographs by applying an alternate blur effect. Users can also select the blur size to apply the effect with granularity.
WhatsApp desktop users on Windows and macOS will be able to change auto-download settings for images, videos, and documents in the near future. For the time being, the feature is only available to beta desktop users.
WhatsApp Messenger, also known simply as WhatsApp, is a freeware, cross-platform centralized instant messaging (IM) and voice-over-IP (VoIP) service owned by the American company Meta Platforms and available globally. Users can send and receive text and voice messages, participate in voice and video conversations, and share photos, documents, user locations, and other content.
WhatsApp’s client application is accessible for both mobile and desktop platforms. You must have a cell phone number to sign up for the program. In January 2018, WhatsApp Business, a standalone business software that communicates with the basic WhatsApp client, was released.
The client application was developed by WhatsApp Inc. in Mountain View, California, and was purchased by Facebook in February 2014 for around US$19.3 billion. By 2015, it had surpassed WhatsApp as the most popular messaging app in the world, with more than 2 billion users worldwide by February 2020.
By 2016, it had eclipsed email as the most popular means of Internet communication across Latin America, the Indian subcontinent, and large parts of Europe and Africa.
